Course overview
Gain a broad and flexible educational preparation for a range of professional, business-related careers in private and public enterprise. Throughout the Bachelor of Commerce, you'll receive a balanced learning experience that combines theoretical and practical learning, with opportunities for industry placement and projects built into the degree. There are seven majors available: Applied Economics, Business Analytics, Economics, Politics & Public Policy, Environmental & Resource Economics, Finance and FinTech. Pursue one of these majors to explore an area of specialised interest and focus your future career, or choose your own adventure and discover areas you're particularly passionate about as you study.
The Bachelor of Commerce provides students with the opportunity to develop broad knowledge and competencies to facilitate careers in commercial business-related fields. This degree focuses on application of knowledge, competencies and capabilities in diverse and global commercial business/organisational contexts. Students will apply their knowledge and competencies to a broad range of commercial business/organisational practices including systems and processes, planning, production, operations and the use of current and emerging data and analytical practices.
The Bachelor of Commerce (Online) provides a flexible program of online study, which students will be able to complete remotely. Please note however, there may be some learning activities and assessments that will require students to attend online classes at specified times.
Practical experience
This degree provides students with practical experience that prepares them for the workforce. Students will gain hands-on experience through Work-Integrated Learning and industry placement programs, as well as immerse themselves in live industry projects with the New Venture Institute and engage with businesses in a real-world environment.
Your career
On completion of this degree student will be able to critically apply broad theoretical and technical accounting, finance, economic and management knowledge and skills to inform commercial business planning and analyse commercial business practices and decisions using theoretical and technical knowledge of regulatory, governance, compliance and legal requirements. Students will be able to explain the impact of socially responsible, ethical, economic, regulatory, sustainability, governance and global perspectives on commercial business planning and practices and communicate technical advice and ideas to specialists and non-specialists, in written and spoken forms.
This degree prepares graduates for employment in a wide range business related field. Potential occupations may include client service executive, business development and banking officer; potential employers may include finance institutions, public and private organisations and government agencies.

Entry requirements
Switch between domestic ATAR data and international qualification equivalents.
IB Diploma
24Use the ATAR 60 band together with the relevant qualification and prerequisite requirements.
If the student's current English result is below the direct-entry requirement, consider the university's recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package. When the student successfully completes the approved pathway at the required level, the university may accept that pathway for English entry without requiring a new IELTS, TOEFL or PTE result.
