Course overview
This course prepares you to understand all aspects of the fashion industry and gain skills and knowledge required to work as a fashion designer. You will learn to create innovative and sustainable designs, either for a runway show or a range of ready-to-wear garments.
You will undertake subjects which cover fashion theory, elements and principles of design, garment and pattern construction and their application. You will also learn using specific software programs to design.
Though there is a strong focus on skills and knowledge of fashion, there are fashion business studies to prepare you to be work ready.
In your final year, you will plan and produce a fashion event to showcase your runway collections. There are also competitions which you are encouraged to take to showcase your creativity.
Your workplace internship project in your final year will not only provide you the skills to write your resume but also prepare you for interviews.
