Course overview

RMIT Interior Design is concerned with the social, cultural, material, technological, and temporal conditions of the spaces we inhabit. Students address global and local challenges shaping interior design, examining the complex relationships between people, their environments, and other living entities through innovative studio-based learning guided by academic and industry leaders. This course equips graduates to create impactful and transformative interiors that shape and respond to the dynamic conditions of the world. Diverse interior contexts, such as architectural, retail, residential, exhibition, urban, digital, filmic, performance, theatre and immersive installations are considered. Students develop design skills by responding to various design briefs, using communication tools including 3D imaging, model making, and hand-drawing together with digital software programs such as Rhino and Revit. There are opportunities to engage with workshops, travel, and industry projects.
