Course overview

Landscape architectural designers respond to diverse issues posed by the contemporary world ranging from the garden to the territory, infrastructural to ecological, through the act of design. In this course, students are exposed to a range of unique design techniques, associated tools and technologies to design landscapes that examine and propose new forms between economics, ecology and society. In the four streams of the course (design, communications, environments, and theoretical frameworks), students learn a set of specialised ideas and skills. In the design stream, students undertake design projects learning specific design techniques to conceptualise and execute design ideas. In the communications stream, students learn how to analyse and represent landscape in 2D and 3D. In the environments stream, students develop skills in mapping, construction methods and fabrication. The theoretical frameworks stream interrogates history and theory through critical analysis and drawing.
