The Bachelor of Youth Work prepares students to make a positive difference in young people’s lives and develop the knowledge and skills for a rewarding Youth Work career. Youth Workers seek to promote young people’s rights, and personal and social development. This course prepares students to help youth have a voice, influence, and place in their communities and society. It equips them to support youth through informal educational activities that combine enjoyment, challenge, and learning. Students build a strong foundation for working with diverse young people and gain specialist knowledge to support disadvantaged communities. They learn from industry-experienced Youth Work specialists, gaining insights into working in community settings and understanding the Youth Work industry’s structure and practices. Through substantial professional placements, students develop practical leadership and management skills to prepare for a diverse and impactful career working with young people.

Career Opportunities
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to work with young people in a range of community settings. It also has multiple employment exit points into schools, as graduates will be eligible to apply for entry to the Master of Teaching (Secondary Education), subject to meeting all entry requirements, or pursue a career in youth and community development roles in local government.

VET studies Completion of an Australian Advanced Diploma or Diploma (or equivalent), or completion of the Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation (or equivalent). VTAC Personal Statement Applicants who wish other criteria to be considered such as work/life experience or motivation to study should complete the VTAC Personal Statement. Supporting documentation should include a current resume and any other relevant evidence e.g. letter from employer, professional development activities etc. Work/Life Experience Three years (minimum) work/life experience in Human Services or similar, or applicants that completed an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate more than two years ago.
