Course overview
The Bachelor of Criminal Justice equips students with the knowledge and skills to contribute to community safety and social justice. It’s ideal for those who want to support people involved in the justice system, influence policy, and help build a fairer society. Students explore how legal systems, social welfare, policing, and corrections interact, with a focus on trauma-informed and community-based approaches. The course examines factors that contribute to criminal behaviour—such as mental health, substance use, childhood trauma, poverty, racial injustice, and limited service access. Students learn how these issues intersect with policing, sentencing, incarceration, and rehabilitation, along with the legal and policy responses. A practical industry placement provides hands-on experience and the confidence to enter the workforce.
