Course overview
The Bachelor of Youth Work and Criminal Justice prepares students to make a positive difference in the lives of young people who are involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in the justice system. Students develop a deep understanding of the challenges within the justice system and the complex factors shaping youth interactions with it. Through a holistic and trauma-informed approach, the course equips graduates to address young people’s needs and contribute meaningfully to their well-being and rehabilitation. Students gain practical skills in supporting young people in areas such as mental health, disability, substance use, trauma, and navigating the criminal justice system and advocating for rights of justice-involved young people. The course includes two industry placements, providing students with real-world experience and the confidence needed to support young people in breaking cycles of disadvantage, reconnecting with community, and transforming their lives for better.
