Course overview

Biomedical engineering bridges medicine and technology and provides solutions that can enhance and improve the health of people. As a biomedical engineer, you could design a wide range of diagnostic or assistive devices such as cardiac monitors, clinical computers, artificial hearts, wheelchairs and artificial tendons and limbs. Biomedical engineering at RMIT is a multidisciplinary course. You'll study fundamentals of engineering, mathematics, design, digital fundamental and electronics. You'll also develop problem-solving and communication skills to help you think critically and independently. You'll gain the skills needed to come up with innovative ways to apply science and engineering to biomedicine and health care. Biomedical engineering is a rapidly growing field resulting in significant demand for biomedical engineers in Australia and around the world.
