Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine (Honours)

In this course, you’ll learn about the comprehensive testing procedures in clinical labs including genomics medicine, clinical immunology and pathology, accreditation and quality management of a diagnostic pathology lab. In Year 1 you’ll undertake foundation courses followed by core Laboratory Medicine clinical courses in Year 2. In Year 3 you’ll specialise in 2 clinical specialty areas of study and undertake 1 semester of supervised professional practice to give you work-ready skills and experience in a diagnostic lab. In your final year you’ll undertake a discipline-focused laboratory medicine research project and courses that integrate, consolidate and provide a holistic learning experience in preparation to work in diagnostic pathology, medical research and further postgraduate studies.  Graduates will play a critical role in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease, working with doctors, pathologists and other healthcare professionals to help treat patients correctly.
