Course overview
The future-focused Bachelor of Education (Primary) empowers you to weave together knowledge and skills, mind and context to inspire and educate young minds. Through a rigorous course of study integrated with professional practice, you will develop command of critical ideas and skills, evolve your professional identity and build your capacity to create knowledge for the future alongside parents/carers, other professionals and the wider community. As an Initial Teacher Education degree, successful completion of the Bachelor of Education (Primary) enables you to apply for registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.
This degree will allow students to gain the skills employers are seeking with our nationally and internationally recognised transformative curriculum, based on contemporary research understandings of how to prepare effective teachers. Graduates will understand the world from multiple viewpoints and possess the relational sensitivity, competency and imagination to evaluate and adapt to rapid changes in contemporary society
Students will integrate their knowledge and skills with a minimum of three professional experience placements in primary schools, and can choose to specialise in curriculum areas including science, visual art, health and physical education and languages. Students will develop expertise and confidence to teach STEM to ensure current interdisciplinary knowledge for 21st century learner.
City Campus
Flinders City Campus offers a broad range of study areas and is designed for collaborative learning, interactive teaching and industry engagement. Positioned adjacent to the Adelaide Railway Station on North Terrace and central to trams and buses, the City Campus provides students with greater connection, convenience and accessibility.
Enabling Educator Excellence Scholarship
Commencing students in this degree will be eligible to apply for the Enabling Educator Excellence (E3) Scholarship funded by the South Australian Government valued at $5,000. Practical experience
Professional experience is a critical component of pre-service teacher education as it enables students to integrate theory and practice. Over the four years, students are required to complete a minimum of 80 days of Professional Experience.
