This combined degree allows students to complete qualifications in Psychological Science and Criminology with a combined study plan to reduce the overall duration of the degree. The Bachelor of Psychological Science aims to develop knowledge of the factors influencing human behaviour and experience, and to provide skills for the application of this knowledge to issues in the real world while the Bachelor of Criminology will appeal to applicants who have the goal of gaining a broad understanding of criminological theory and its application in criminal justice contexts and the skill of applying criminological knowledge in educational and professional settings.

Bachelor of Psychological Science

The Bachelor of Psychological Science provides comprehensive knowledge of such fields as learning, motivation, personality, emotion, development across the lifespan, social and cultural influences, biological influences, and mental health. Undertake an extensive range of key subjects and a career pathway to practising psychology. Cover fields such as personality; emotion; development; social, cultural and biological influences; and mental health. Access excellent facilities including up to 20 research laboratories, and a unique placement opportunity, and graduate for work in clinical, educational, organisational and academic settings. The Bachelor of Psychological Science is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council.

On completion of this degree students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of influences on human behaviour, both normal and abnormal. Students will have an understanding of the principles and techniques of psychological research and knowledge of Psychological Assessment and measurement.

This degree prepares graduates for employment in many fields given the broad scope of specialisations. Potential occupations may include youth worker, disability employment consultant, and human resources consultant; potential employers may include community health providers, consulting firms and government agencies.

Bachelor of Criminology

The Bachelor of Criminology prepares students for a successful career in the criminal justice sector and related fields where you will create a positive social impact with a future-focused and socially responsible curriculum created in partnership with industry. The aim of the Criminology degree at Flinders is to prepare undergraduates for successful careers in the criminal justice sector and related fields, through a comprehensive understanding of crime and social harm. Flinders Criminology values and actively fosters critical thinking about, and application of knowledge to solve the pressing criminological problems of our times.

On completion of the Criminology degree students will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of both classic and contemporary criminological theories; and an understanding of the ways that criminal justice systems function to deliver justice both in Australia and abroad. Students will have the ability to apply criminological knowledge in educational and professional settings and an appreciation of the ways that ethical behaviour improves justice outcomes.

Graduates have enjoyed a wide choice of careers and diverse employment trajectories in Australia and overseas. Many move into employment in the criminal and social justice sectors. Potential occupations may include Police Officer, Forensic Investigator, Corrections Officer, Defence/Intelligence Officer.
