Bachelor of Psychological Science

Undertake an extensive range of key subjects and a career pathway to practising psychology. This degree aims to develop knowledge of the factors influencing human behaviour and experience, and to provide skills for the application of this knowledge to issues in the real world. It provides comprehensive knowledge of such fields as learning, motivation, personality, emotion, development across the lifespan, social and cultural influences, biological influences, and mental health. Also integral to the degree is the development of critical thinking and research skills, and an understanding of the ethical responsibilities of researchers and psychology clinicians.

Your career

On completion of this degree, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of influences on human behaviour, both normal and abnormal. Students will have an understanding of the principles and techniques of psychological research and knowledge of Psychological Assessment and measurement.

This degree prepares graduates for employment in many fields given the broad scope of specialisations. Potential occupations may include youth worker, disability employment consultant, and human resources consultant; potential employers may include community health providers, consulting firms and government agencies.

To register as a practising psychologist in Australia, students will be required to complete an Honours program in Psychology and either two further years of supervised experience or an approved qualification such as a Master of Psychology (Clinical).
