Bachelor of Health Sciences / Master of Physiotherapy

Develop the knowledge and skills required to become registered and work as a physiotherapist. The Bachelor of Health Sciences/Master of Physiotherapy builds on Flinders University's strengths in rural health and health service improvement, and prepares you for a career as a contemporary health professional able to work across a variety of settings. This degree is accredited by the Australian Physiotherapy Council and satisfies the academic requirements for registration as a physiotherapist with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.

Students in this double degree will gain the fundamental knowledge in social and clinical sciences as well as study topics that introduce physiotherapy and the science that underpins practice. It provides graduates with the vital knowledge and skills required to become registered and work as a physiotherapist.

Practical experience

This degree provides students with practical experience that prepares them for the workforce. Students will undertake clinical learning at Health2GO, an interprofessional student clinic located on campus at the University as well as 26 weeks of supervised clinical placements and complete at least one rural and/or remote placement.

Your career

Graduates of the double degree will be able to practice as Physiotherapists across a range of settings, including rural and remote areas. Emphasis will be placed on preparing a contemporary health professional able to be client-centred and to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Students will be able to work with people with a range of health conditions, including musculoskeletal and orthopaedic, cardiorespiratory and neurological conditions. Students will also be able to work with people at all ages and life stages, from children to older adults, in a variety of settings from acute hospitals, to rehabilitation and in community settings and private practice.

Equal Consideration

Equal consideration is a central principle of the admissions process. Equal consideration means that all applicants who have the same selection rank for a degree (or a subquota within a degree) are treated equally i.e. either all or none will be entitled to an offer, provided application deadlines and other application requirements are met by the set deadline.

Applicants who lodge an application by the relevant closing date and comply with all the application requirements, including having all grades/results by the required deadline, will be guaranteed equal consideration in the selection process. If however, an application is lodged late or does not comply with all the application requirements, including having all grades/results by the required deadline, they will not be guaranteed equal consideration.

Applicants who have applied on time but shuffle this preference after the Change of Preference deadline will not be guaranteed equal consideration. Applicants who have applied on time will be required to have all pending or missing grades and/or adjustment factors finalised no later than 31 December 2025 to be guaranteed equal consideration.

Applicants are advised that should they receive an offer for a place in this degree, they will be required to enrol in topics by the enrolment deadline stated in the letter of offer from SATAC. If they do not enrol via the Flinders University Student System by the specified date and maintain enrolment, their offer in the degree will be forfeit. Applicants who receive an offer for a place in this degree should also note that if they subsequently receive an offer to a higher preference, their offer will be deemed superseded and will be forfeited.
