Course overview
The Bachelor of Health Sciences is a multidisciplinary degree that aims to comprehensively prepare you for a career in the diverse modern healthcare environment. Core topics common to all specialisations will equip you with highly sought-after transferable skills, providing a strong foundation for future endeavours in health or in further study. You will develop the ability to critically approach new challenges in contemporary healthcare and be equipped to enter the workforce in a variety of health-related sectors or pursue postgraduate studies in a health-related discipline.
From second year, students will be able to focus on an area of interest by choosing either a specialisation, or a major in Health and two minors. Specialisations include areas such as Digital Health, Health & Biomedical Sciences or Therapy Studies, while the minors include Ageing, Digital Health, Health Promotion, Nutrition or Therapy Studies. The specialisation, major and minor topics lets students tailor their learning to suit their interests and career aspirations. It will help them prepare for specialised non-clinical health careers and can also provide the pre-requisites to apply for post-graduate studies with Flinders University in a range of Allied Health professions, such as Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, and other related fields, such as Teaching.
This degree is also available to study online with the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Online) (SATAC code 274155), providing a flexible program of study, which students will be able to complete remotely. There may be some online learning activities and assessments that will require students to attend online classes at specified times. Please note that there is also an asynchronous option of the Bachelor of Health Sciences, which you can study in your own time. Applications for this online version are submitted directly with Flinders University.
