The Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Business offers students the flexibility and the professional development to meet academic and professional requirements for graduates to be admitted to legal practice in Australia. It also offers graduates the opportunity to develop their skill, knowledge and professional acumen across a range of business specialisations, preparing them for careers in the legal community, business and government. This course provides a focus on both practical and theoretical learning, both in legal profession and in other business settings.

Graduates also have the opportunity to begin careers in a legal capacity in a government department or agency such as Treasury or Foreign Affairs at a federal level or in state government. Graduates may also begin a career in community legal centres supporting legal access in particular geographic locations. There is also the opportunity to begin a career in-house in a profit or not-for-profit business.

  • Current Year 12 graduates ATAR This course uses the ATAR as part of its selection considerations. High Performance Sport Adjustment Applicants who participate in high level sport (players, coaches and officials) can apply to receive an adjustment of 5 ATAR points (recent secondary applicants only) or additional consideration towards their selection rank (all other applicants). A study score of 30 in Business Management, English other than EAL, any History, Legal Studies, Politics or Psychology equals 5 aggregate points per study. Overall maximum of 20 points. SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme) Applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage are encouraged to apply for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS). Depending on eligibility and your circumstances, a SEAS application may provide support for your course application. Senior Secondary studies Completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate more than two years ago, plus Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English (or equivalent), and Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Economics, any History, Legal Studies, Australian Politics, Global Politics or Psychology. VTAC Personal Statement Applicants who wish other criteria to be considered such as work/life experience or motivation to study should complete the VTAC Personal Statement.
