Course overview

This course prepares students for a career in the highly competitive, constantly changing global advertising industry. Students gain industry experience through partnered projects with live briefs, solving real world problems and engaging closely with stakeholders. They have the opportunity to work with major agencies and organisations and submit their work to global competitions.

The course covers art direction, copywriting and strategy planning/account management, with a strong focus on critical and conceptual thinking and learning how to use these skills to solve communication problems. The curriculum offers an overview of the role and value of advertising within broader marketing and communication practice and in-depth study of digital advertising media, strategic and creative disciplines.

The learning experience is enhanced through studies in Approaches to Popular Culture, Asian Media and Culture, Cinema Studies, Contemporary Politics and Communication, or Literary Studies.

  • Year 12 prerequisites Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 33 in English (EAL) or at least 28 in English other than EAL. Non-Year 12 prerequisites Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
