Course overview

RMIT’s Bachelor of Communication (Media) degree integrates practical production, conceptual analysis, creative practice and critical reflection with professional industry knowledge. Learning mostly takes place within project-based studio environments in which students actively participate and develop skills in key aspects of contemporary media production processes. Students study core subjects in media with complementary studies that promote analytical and research skills and explore future directions for the media industries. The broader learning experience is enhanced through focused studies in Approaches to Popular Culture, Asian Media and Culture, Cinema Studies, Contemporary Politics and Communication, or Literary Studies, as well as a range of elective subjects. Students are offered many opportunities to work beyond the classroom through industry partnerships, internships and international exchanges/study tours.
