In this course, students learn to develop creative and original furniture designs with a strong grounding in design methods, manufacturing technologies and processes, environmental, cultural and social factors. They will work on an industry partnered project to produce commercially viable furniture.
This course gives students the combination of manual skills and machine technology capabilities required in the product development and construction methods of contemporary furniture products. They will also build the critical and conceptual thinking skills used to develop ideas to address issues within society, including sustainable approaches to design and manufacturing.
Students develop the ability to visualise their ideas through hand and computer documentation, understand the historical and social context of furniture, and present their work professionally through industry and private shows.
