The Bachelor of Music - Creative Technology (Audio) is for those seeking a career in professional audio production as a songwriter, composer, producer or engineer. This degree is designed to take you beyond the recording studio to the forefront of where audio technology is headed in the 21st century. With a distinct future focus, you will learn how to harness your creativity and broaden your technical skills whilst utilising a mix of digital and analog recording techniques. These include cutting-edge audio technologies and DAWs (digital audio workstations) alongside practical training in the use of vintage analogue instruments and recording equipment. You will have access to our acoustically treated studio spaces for professional quality recording, high-end recording consoles and a community of songwriters, musicians and performers to collaborate with on innovative new projects. You will build a portfolio of your original works to kickstart your professional audio career.

Practical experience

Experience using a digital audio workstation (DAW) will be advantageous for successful entry and success during the first year of study. Ability to either play an instrument or sing is also advantageous but not required.

Standard entry

  • Applicants under 21 (including current Year 12s) Applicants under the age of 21 must provide evidence of at least one of the following: satisfactory completion of HSC (Higher School Certificate) including a minimum of English Standard. Note that any result below a Band 3 in English Standard may require further assessment. satisfactory completion of IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma qualification satisfactory completion of an AQF VET qualification (Certificate IV and above, or equivalent as assessed by DET) satisfactory completion of at least 6 months full-time tertiary study (AQF level 5 or higher). Applicants with work and life experience Applicants who are 21 years of age or older at the time of application are entitled to mature-age consideration. Mature-age applicants may obtain entry by performing to a satisfactory level in an audition and/or digital portfolio and/or interview. For applicants who do not meet the above criteria, admission may be granted by the Director of Academic Affairs or nominee based on a documented assessment of the applicant's overall ability to undertake the program of study and to achieve the course learning outcomes.
