This program provides students with an understanding of animals, our relationship with them and management of them. It equips graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to face challenges such as improving the conditions and methods by which we manage companion animals, shrinking habitat, feral animals threatening indigenous animal populations, and a need for meat and other animal products to be produced more efficiently and humanely.

UNE is one of Australia's leading providers in animal science. In this degree you will learn about all aspects of animal science, which include nutrition, health, behaviour and welfare, genetics and management. With our state-of-the-art facilities and team of world class scientists, animal science students can specialise by choosing a major in either livestock science or animal bioscience, and minors in sustainable animal management, business, genetics, livestock production, nutrition and physiology, research methods, sheep and wool, and wildlife ecology and management.

Gain international experience by completing an international exchange for a trimester with one of our partner universities. Enrol in units examining agricultural production and business involving international travel to various Asian, European or North American countries. Complete your practical industry experience overseas.

Progress to an Honours year with UNE's Bachelor of Science with Honours if you have an above average academic record and wish to continue with your studies.

UNE is one of Australia’s leading providers in animal science with a team of world-class scientists on staff. We offer small class sizes, excellent staff to student ratios and access to state-of-the-art facilities.
