Bachelor of Science (Marine Science), Bachelor of Commerce (double degree)

The need to sustain Australia's coastline is more important than ever as we face rapidly increasing pressure to develop the coastal zone for commercial fisheries, oil and gas extraction, townships, holiday destinations and recreational use. The Coastal and Marine Science Major reflects this need, and aims to produce graduates with the specialist skills and knowledge needed to assess and manage the environmental impact of human activities on the marine and coastal environment. This double degree offers students the opportunity to study Coastal and Marine Science alongside a wide range of majors from the Faculty of Commerce. The combination of these two degrees provides a broad knowledge base leading to the opportunity for diverse career opportunities both in Australia and overseas. 

Students enrolled in the double degree program may transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines at any time, although time to complete the single degree will be a matter of discussion with the relevant Head of Department or Discipline Area.

On completion of the three year degree, students who have performed well will be eligible to complete an extra year of study to obtain an honours qualification, BH-SCNCE Bachelor of Science (Honours). The research focus of an Honours degree provides a pathway for career advancement at a higher level than the base degree.
