Course overview

This course comprises substantial parts of the Applied Geology and Environmental Biology degrees, and gives students a dual qualification in both areas. In addition to training graduates able to practise both as professional geologists or environmental scientists, this program provides specific scientific expertise in the combined management of living and non-living resources. Resource exploration and management frequently take place in arid environments and involve issues of restoration after mining, maintenance of biodiversity, eco-system management and rehabilitation of degraded and salt-affected landscapes.

On completion of the degree, students who have performed well will be eligible to complete an extra year of study to obtain an honours qualification, BH-SCNCE Bachelor of Science (Honours). The research focus of an Honours degree provides a pathway for career advancement at a higher level than the base degree.
