Course overview

A Diploma of Business Information Systems focuses on the introduction and development of skills to prepare you for a career as an information systems professional. You will learn critical academic skills, and knowledge and applications of information systems across a variety of businesses.

The course is made up of six core subjects and two elective subjects. Successful completion of the Business Information Systems diploma will guarantee entry into the second year of the Bachelor of Business Information Systems.

Note: This course is also available at our Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney campuses. Flexible study options are available including On-campus, Online or a Hybrid of both.

Areas of Study: Data and networking, database fundamentals, foundations of information systems, information systems project management planning, business communications. Students can also choose electives in the areas of banking fundamentals and marketing, customer experience management, integrated marketing communications, introduction to PR writing.

Standard entry

  • Recent secondary Qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) or equivalent recent year 12 qualification (including the International Baccalaureate Diploma). Higher Ed Completed or partially completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution, or Completed a University Foundation Studies, Bridging or Enabling program Work-Life Other Completed a non-recent SACE or equivalent secondary education qualification with a competitive selection rank, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), or STAT multiple choice test (optional), or Personal competencies and/or employment experience (optional) If you have studied at higher education level in the last two years, you must not have accumulated more than a total of two full-time years of higher education study in order to use your STAT/PCA/Employment results. If you have been employed in the Australian Defence Force you may be eligible to apply for an undergraduate course on the basis of your service. See here .
