Course overview
This combined degree allows students to complete qualifications in Accounting and International Relations and Political Science with a combined study plan to reduce the overall duration of the course. The Bachelor of Accounting has a particular focus on application of accounting knowledge, competencies and capabilities to diverse and global commercial business/organisational contexts. The Bachelor of International Relations and Political Science aims to provide students with a comprehensive grounding in the core political science disciplines of international relations, politics and public policy and an understanding of Australia's political system and its place within the regional and global context.
Bachelor of Accounting
Develop the expertise and competencies to adapt and thrive in the fast paced financial, consulting and accounting sectors. This degree provides a strong foundation in accounting principles and processes, management accounting, business law, economics, finance, computer information systems, auditing, and taxation law, international accounting developments and standards, and current issues in financial reporting. This degree is accredited by Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and hold professional recognition the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
On completion of this Accounting degree students will be able to critically apply broad theoretical and technical accounting, finance, economic and management knowledge and skills to inform financial control and budgeting and analyse accounting practices and decisions using theoretical and technical knowledge of regulatory, governance, compliance and legal requirements. The degree prepares graduates for a career in a range of public and private sectors in Australia and internationally. Potential occupations may include accountant, consultant and analyst; potential employers may include accounting firms, financial management firms and government departments.
Bachelor of International Relations and Political Science
Students will have the opportunity to explore political parties and institutions, interest groups and electoral systems, health and welfare policy, political theory, comparative politics and political economy, international political economy, globalisation, international relations theory, diplomacy, strategy and foreign policy, international terrorism, security studies and development studies.
On completion of the International Relations and Political Science degree students will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the central analytical concepts within the disciplines of politics, public policy and international relations and employ specialist theoretical knowledge to analyse issues in international and domestic political contexts. It prepares graduates for a wide range of employment opportunities or further study. Potential occupations may include policy analyst, diplomat and public relations specialist; potential employers may include government agencies and private sector businesses.
City Campus
Flinders City Campus offers a broad range of study areas and is designed for collaborative learning, interactive teaching and industry engagement. Positioned adjacent to the Adelaide Railway Station on North Terrace and central to trams and buses, the City Campus provides students with greater connection, convenience and accessibility.
