Sport is serious business. Are you ready to get in the game? Get the skills to shape the game behind-the-scenes with a Flinders Bachelor of Business majoring in Sports Management. Sports management is a broad curriculum, mixing enterprise skills with finance, marketing and digital leadership. You'll learn how to project manage big events, develop grassroots community programs and keep a sports club running smoothly. Students completing this degree will graduate with the award of Bachelor of Business.
The Bachelor of Business majoring in Sports Management provides students with the opportunity to develop broad knowledge and competencies to facilitate careers in business-related fields. Students will be encouraged and supported to develop transferable interpersonal and professional capabilities, including the capability to be reflective, self-evaluating and critically engaged. There is a focus on application of knowledge, competencies and capabilities to diverse and global sports management contexts. This specialisation will cover sports and recreational content and application of management and business in various key aspects of sports with emphasis on enterprising, digital and leadership knowledge and skills.
Your career
On completion of this degree students will be able to critically apply broad theoretical and technical accounting, finance, economic, marketing, and human resources management knowledge and skills to inform sports management planning and analyse sports management and marketing practices and decisions using theoretical and technical knowledge of regulatory, governance, compliance and legal requirements. Students will be able to explain the impact of socially responsible, ethical, economic, regulatory, sustainability, governance and global perspectives on equitable sport and physical activity outcomes for the wider community as well as sports management.
This degree prepares graduates for a wide range of employment opportunities or further study. Potential occupations may include sports marketer, sports management consultant and sports researcher; potential employers may include government agencies and private sector businesses.
