Course overview
This dual degree allows students to take two degrees and gain a teaching qualification underpinned by strong disciplinary knowledge in two selected teaching areas. The Arts component provides content knowledge in a wide choice of majors. The Secondary Education component provides the skills, knowledge and practical experience required for teacher registration and employment. The course prepares students to teach across secondary schools, and offers practical school-based learning, drawing on current research into effective teaching methods. It prepares students for the challenges of secondary school teaching through on-campus lectures, tutorials and workshops integrated with practical experience in schools. Career Opportunities
Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT), as well as other authorities, to teach in schools around Australia, and some worldwide. Once registered, graduates can work as a secondary school teacher in state or independent schools in Queensland, or undertake further study to qualify as a principal; curriculum adviser; guidance or career officer; department head.
