Course overview

This five-year course is a broad-based program encompassing all aspects of existing dental practice, with a special focus on tropical, rural and Indigenous practice. The curriculum integrates basic sciences with dental clinical sciences and preventative oral health strategies. There is early exposure to clinical practice, with an increasing proportion of the curriculum dedicated to the acquisition of clinical skills. The final year is dedicated entirely to clinical experience, with students undertaking clinical placement in Queensland Health dental facilities across northern Queensland.
