Course overview
The Diploma of Bioscience is a pathway program that leads into the second year of the Bachelor of Agriculture at La Trobe University.
It introduces biology, chemistry, physiology, and ecology, and will set you on a path to gain the knowledge to help solve global issues. You will learn about the structure, functions, and interactions of living organisms, and begin to discuss some big issues such as climate change, the protection of endangered animals, and cancer treatment.
Once you progress into the Bachelor of Agriculture, you'll learn about the relationship between plants, animals, soil and climate, economics, and management. You'll also take on subjects such as plant science, land and soil management, animal physiology, pest control, and groundwater sustainability and contamination. By combining science with business skills, you'll be equipped to help farmers improve their food production and reduce the impact of declining resources.
