Course overview

Develop a career as a physical educator in exercise and sport science, fitness and health, or sport coaching, or undertake postgraduate study to qualify to teach Health and Physical Education. This course provides knowledge and skills in physical education through studies in sport, exercise science and health. You will undertake core studies in physical education and sport science such as games and sports, skill acquisition, motor development, anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, individual fitness activities, athletics and aquatics, and nutrition and can choose from a range of minors including Biology, Environmental Science, History, Literary Studies, Mathematics/Statistics, Psychology Student Welfare, Fitness and Conditioning or Sport Coaching. Graduates can choose to progress to a Master or Teaching (Primary Education) or Master of Teaching (Secondary Education) in physical education and health.

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language or at least 20 in English other than EAL.
