Course overview

This course provides you with the knowledge and skills to manage professional organisations, major sporting events and sporting facilities. The course has two majors. The Sport and Active Communities major focuses on community sport, recreation and active living, its relationship with sport and recreation organisations, and how it can be managed to optimise participant satisfaction, build sustainable communities, and deliver social connections. The Outdoor Recreation Leadership major uses adventure-based activities to develop skills, knowledge and experience to plan, organise, lead, guide and instruct complex outdoor recreation/education and adventure sport activities. It also provides opportunities to develop highly valued personal traits including integrity, cultural sensitivity, and psychological resilience. The use of workplace simulation and field labs are a highly attractive component of this major.
