Course overview

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Animation) involves the practical exploration, innovation and development of animated screen production. It covers idea development, screenwriting, storyboarding, character design and expression, 2D, 3D, stop-motion, experimentation, motion effects, editing, and the use of sound and music. You will be challenged to respond to set problems, and pursue your own creative thinking to keep the material fresh and relevant to your own experience. You will be introduced to the practice of critical self-reflection in the context of wider contemporary arts practices, and have the opportunity to choose breadth subjects from across the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music and the wider University. You will have access to extensive resources, including sound stages, animation studios, rushes viewing rooms, editing and sound mixing suites, cinemas, professional production equipment and high-definition digital vision and audio postproduction facilities.

Standard entry

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 or subject equivalents.
