Course overview

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) is a three-year full-time degree that offers studies in the creation and production of live performance. Students can specialise in the areas of Design, Stage Management, Set and Props, Costume, Lighting, Digital Media and Projection, and Sound. Theoretical knowledge and practical skills are developed through an immersive and practical curriculum in studio and production environments. The course incorporates broad foundation training in live production processes. Students cultivate their skills in their chosen specialisations as they progress through the course, integrating conceptual and technical skills within studio-based environments. You will also undertake subjects that introduce you to the diversity of contemporary performing arts practices, and choose breadth subjects from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, or from the University of Melbourne's broad undergraduate subjects.

Educational outcomes considered for selection

VCE or equivalent is required.

VTAC Personal Statement

Applicants with more than one year of prior tertiary study should submit a VTAC Personal Statement detailing their motivation in applying for this course and their future study and career goals.

Young Applicants

Applicants who will be aged less than 17 years old at the start of the semester, may be required to attend an interview to determine whether their age may adversely affect their ability to successfully undertake the course.

SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)

Applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage are encouraged to apply for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).

Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)

Applicants eligible for the Non-school leaver entry pathway who wish to use a general aptitude test for entry must complete the STAT (both the STAT Multiple Choice and the STAT Written English) or the SAT (all sections of the SAT Reasoning Test, consisting of Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing).
