If you dream of designing the collections everyone's talking about, Swinburne's Bachelor of Design (Fashion) will help you make it happen. From day one, you'll be hands-on: sketching, patternmaking, sewing, and bringing your ideas to life in our studios and ProtoLAB. With small classes and access to advanced equipment, you'll explore every stage of the fashion process in a supportive space where it's safe to experiment. You'll develop essential skills like trend forecasting, collection development, styling, and garment construction, while also working with sustainable textiles and tech-enabled designs like smart garments and wearables. Industry connection is built into everything we do. You'll tackle real industry briefs, gain guaranteed work-integrated learning, and build the practical skills employers want. Standard entry

Current Year 12 graduates

ATAR

This course uses the ATAR as part of its selection considerations.

Educational History

An applicant's entire academic history, including ATAR results, will be considered for entry into this course.

Applicants with complete and/or incomplete post-secondary studies at the VET level within the last seven years will be also considered.

Regional Adjustments

Swinburne offers a regional adjustment for applicants from outer regional and remote communities.

These applicants will automatically receive regional adjustment factors if they:

  • apply for a course for which assessment is based on ATAR
  • are currently studying Year 12, or Year 12 is their highest level of study

Swinburne will automatically apply regional adjustment factors to an applicant's aggregate score based on location.

Applicants are not required to apply for this consideration.

Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)

VCE VM and Unscored Applicants only: Applicants who do not meet the English prerequisites can fulfill this requirement by completing the STAT Written English test.

Eligible applicants will be contacted after attending the creative design workshop with instructions on how to complete this requirement.

Please note that the cost of the STAT Written English test will be covered by Swinburne for eligible applicants.

Subject adjustment

A study score of 25 in Art Creative Practice, Product Design and Technologies, Media, Creative and Digital Media (VCE VET) I, Art Making and Exhibiting, Systems Engineering or Visual Communication Design equals 4 aggregate points per study.

Overall maximum of 15 points.

SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)

Applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage are encouraged to apply for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).

Depending on eligibility and your circumstances, a SEAS application may provide support for your course application.

An applicant's entire academic history from the past seven years, including ATAR results, will be considered for entry into this course.

Applicants who have completed post-secondary studies at undergraduate level i.e. bachelor and above, will be considered for this course.

Applicants whose incomplete undergraduate studies and complete and/or incomplete VET studies were undertaken within the last seven years will also be considered.
