Course overview

In this course you’ll learn the principles of smart 3D modelling and associated tools such as virtual reality, photogrammetry, laser scanning and more.

You’ll learn how the different groups rely on each other across the lifecycle of a building and how digital workflows are the foundation of the smart cities of the future.

You’ll also engage in project-based learning using industry preferred software and workflows.

Graduates will be paraprofessionals within the engineering, construction or technology industries with a focus on advanced manufacturing and building information modelling. The types of roles may include BIM technician, BIM coordinator or digital assistant.

  • Current Year 12 graduates Educational outcomes considered for selection Applicants who have completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent, such as an interstate or international Year 12 qualification will be considered. Bridging and enabling courses Applicants who do not meet the mathematics prerequisites for this course will be required to successfully complete Swinburne's MathsLink Further bridging program prior to the final VTAC round to be considered for this course. Educational history An applicant's entire academic history, including Year 12 results, VET and higher education study, will be considered for entry into this course. Applicants who have completed post-secondary studies at undergraduate level i.e. bachelor and above, will be considered for this course. Also considered are incomplete undergraduate studies and complete and/or incomplete VET studies undertaken within the last 7 years. Mathematics prerequisites older than 5 years are not considered to have met course requirements. Work experience Applicants who have completed year 12 but do not meet the entry criteria through academic study can have their work experience considered. Applicants with 2 years of full-time relevant post-secondary work experience, must provide: A resume A letter from an employer (on letterhead) outlining the duration of employment, roles and responsibilities. If an employer letter can't be provided Swinburne may conduct a referee check A position description (optional) Applicants with VET study Entire academic record This course uses the entire academic record as part of its selection considerations.
