Course overview

Our Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing and Technology is the first para-professional veterinary nursing qualification of this level in Australia, taught by Melbourne Polytechnic. Gain exceptional levels of practical skill, knowledge and in-depth understanding of veterinary science. During your second year, you'll apply the theory and practice by undertaking a semester-long industry placement in various supervised industry settings including hospitals, animal shelters and farms. In third year, you'll have the option to undertake paid work in veterinary practices outside of classes to ensure you graduate with the skills and experience to become highly employable.

Regional Adjustment

Applicants whose residential address is classified as RA2 or higher using the Australian Statistical Geographic Standard - Remoteness Area (ASGS-RA) (2021) qualify for a regional adjustment.

Subject adjustment

A study score of 25 in Maths: Mathematical Methods, Maths: Specialist Mathematics or any Science equals 4 aggregate points per study.

A study score of 20 in any LOTE equals 4 aggregate points per study.

Overall maximum of 12 points.

SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)

Applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage are encouraged to apply for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).

Depending on eligibility and your circumstances, a SEAS application may provide support for your course application.

Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)

You may satisfy the academic requirements by completing the STAT multiple choice if you:

  • are not currently studying an Australian Year 12 (or equivalent)
  • have no prior secondary school (Year 12), Vocational Education and Training (VET) studies, Higher Education (HE) studies or relevant work experience that can be considered for entry,
  • do not meet the minimum academic requirements for the program.
