Do you want to change public perception? With Deakin's Bachelor of Communication, majoring in journalism, you will gain the skills to do just that.

A truly hands-on learning experience, this course will give you a taste of the fast-evolving news and media industry. With access to specialist newsrooms and industry-standard equipment, you'll understand how to produce news and features with impact. Learn to engage, entertain and inspire audiences in print, online, video and audio platforms.

Build a portfolio by unearthing stories, sourcing interviews and writing and producing news packages for Deakin's journalism publication, DScribe.

You will be supported by Deakin to design your internship. Choose from 600+ employers like Affirm Press, Australian Local Government Women's Association or Communicado or craft your own.

Be empowered to personalise your degree. Complement your journalism major by studying another major or minors in an area that interests you.

Subject adjustment

A study score of 30 in any Business, Product Design and Technologies, Economics, any English, Media, Interactive Digital Media D, Psychology, Visual Communication Design or Extended Investigation equals 4 aggregate points per study.
