Course overview
The Diploma of Information Technology is a higher education qualification that will prepare you for employment in entry level roles in the IT industry. You will gain introductory knowledge in computing, programming, databases, internetworking as well as the critical thinking and communication skills that you will need as an IT professional.
The Diploma of Information Technology is one year full-time course that is only offered as an entry point to international students.
Upon completion of this higher education diploma, students are eligible to receive 1 year advanced standing in the Bachelor of Information Technology (Cyber and Network Security) or the Bachelor of Information Technology (Data Engineering).

Graduates of the Diploma of Information Technology will get direct entry into second year of the TAFE NSW Bachelor of Information Technology degrees.

Standard entry
- Minimum eligibility requirements Applicants are required to hold, at minimum, one of the following to be considered eligible for admission: a NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent OR a recognised Tertiary Preparation Certificate OR a qualification from a Registered Training Organisation at Certificate IV level or above OR the completion of at least one year full-time or equivalent in a degree course at a higher education institution. Additional requirements In addition to the minimum eligibility requirements all applicants are required to: submit a 700 word essay, and attend an interview.
