Course overview

The Bachelor of Property Valuation is a professional degree that prepares graduates to work as a valuer in residential, commercial and public sectors, both in Australia and overseas. The Bachelor of Valuation is Australia’s only specialist property valuation degree and has been developed with the support of the Office of the NSW Valuer General, the NSW Office of Fair Trading and the Australian Property Institute.

The degree focuses on the skills required for working professionally as a property valuer while ensuring graduates have a thorough understanding of the principles that underpin the realisation of valuation concepts, including background and preparation for a number of specialised areas of valuation practice. The course includes interaction with industry experts, site visits and field trips to enhance the practical learning experience.

Advanced Standing

Students who have completed a related Diploma or Advanced Diploma may be eligible to apply for advanced standing.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can practice as a registered property valuer in NSW, and to apply for membership of a range of national and international property industry professional associations. Other jobs include: property valuer in government or private industry, property and asset manager, property market analyst, property sales and acquisitions and property developer.

Minimum eligibility requirements

Applicants are required to hold, at minimum, one of the following to be considered eligible for admission:

  • a NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent
  • a recognised Tertiary Preparation Certificate
  • a qualification from a Registered Training Organisation at Certificate IV level or above
  • the completion of at least one year full-time or equivalent in a degree course at a higher education institution.

Note: Applicants who have not studied mathematics at NSW Higher School Certificate (or equivalent) level will be asked to complete a diagnostic test.

If you do not display a sufficient level of mathematical attainment, you will need to complete a recognised bridging program before starting the course.

Additional requirements

In addition to the minimum eligibility requirements all applicants are required to:

  • submit a 500 word essay (specified on the application form),
  • attend an interview.

If you do not meet the minimum eligibility requirements for this course, you may be able to apply for entry into this course based on mature age or disadvantage.
