Course overview
The Bachelor of Fashion Design prepares graduates for creative employment in the fashion industry in Australia and overseas. The degree aims to produce highly creative, work ready design professionals who can apply their knowledge and creative ability across different work contexts and roles in the fashion industry.
Students gain specific knowledge in design, fashion principles, illustration, visual communication, fashion production techniques and professional practice. Graduates will be equipped to manage the design and development process from concept to realisation. While the program emphasises creative design practice, it aims to produce graduates with broad knowledge and skills in fashion design, as well as specialist knowledge in a specific area or field.

Advanced Standing
Students who have completed a related Diploma or Advanced Diploma may be eligible to apply for advanced standing.
Career Opportunities
Students will develop the skills to work as an independent design professional or member of a design team including fashion designer, costume designer, product developer, pattern cutter, stylist, fashion illustrator, textile print designer and garment technician.

Standard entry
- Minimum eligibility requirements Applicants are required to hold, at minimum, one of the following to be considered eligible for admission: a NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent OR a recognised Tertiary Preparation Certificate OR a qualification from a Registered Training Organisation at Certificate IV level or above OR the completion of at least one year full-time or equivalent in a degree course at a higher education institution. Additional requirements Applicants who are invited to attend a pre-admission interview will be required to provide the following additional information to support their application for entry to this program: Submit a portfolio of artwork to demonstrate your creative talent. This must include 12 examples of your original fashion design ideas. (Copies of original work only, A3 maximum size) Submit an essay comparing the work of two prominent designers that have inspired you to become a fashion designer. This should describe the similarities and differences between the two designers’ works and why their designs resonate with you. (550 word maximum) Special admissions If you do not meet the minimum eligibility requirements for this course, you may be able to apply for entry into this course based on mature age or disadvantage.
