Course overview

Civil and environmental engineers play a critical role in improving the way we live. They create efficient buildings and infrastructure, design solutions to protect soil and water from contamination, plan waste and pollution control, and ensure the availability of resource recovery systems.

In this course, you’ll build knowledge in civil engineering, pollution control, transport, renewable energy, environmental analysis, ecology and physicochemical processes. You’ll understand the social, political and legal aspects of environmental planning and management, giving you the skills you need for a successful career in civil and environmental engineering.

Civil engineering consulting, environmental consulting, water treatment, waste and soil remediation, energy industries, local councils and state/federal government agencies, catchment management authorities and international development organisations.

Professional recognition

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering is fully accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer and is recognised internationally by signatories to the Washington Accord.

Practical experience

All students are required to complete a minimum of 12 weeks work experience. Students in the Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice undertake 2 x 6-month Work Integrated Learning internships in year 2 and year 4 which integrates theory with practice.
