Combining the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science allows you to follow diverse passions to create something unique. Through the science component you will be inspired to build new knowledge and discover new things. Through the study of arts, you will explore ideas, theories and records of how people process the human experience through society, culture, and more.
This combined degree will teach you to think both scientifically and socially about the world and how it works. It offers a greater breadth of learning, enhancing the academic and professional qualities gained in each separate degree. On completion, you will have the practical skills to make a difference in the world and to contribute to new solutions to the many challenges we face.

Majors
Areas of study
In Arts, study diverse majors and minors to develop your core specialisation and take charge of your future. Choose from 12 majors in the arts and humanities, as well as 21 minors, and hundreds of courses.
In addition to choosing majors, minors and structured program pathways, you can focus your studies through optional learning pathways including the Entrepreneurial stream, Online stream, Global stream or Innovator stream.
In Science, choose from the following majors:
Newcastle majors: Biodiversity and conservation, biological sciences, chemistry of advanced materials, communication, earth sciences, geography, mathematics, medicinal and organic chemistry, physics, psychology, statistics.
Central Coast majors: Biodiversity and conservation, psychology.

Professional recognition
The Bachelor of Science (Physics major) is currently seeking reaccreditation by the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP). Students will be able to become an associate member of the institute while studying, and a full member upon graduation.
The Bachelor of Science (Statistics major) is currently seeking reaccreditation by the Statistical Society of Australia. Students will be able to become an associate member of the institute while studying, and a full member upon graduation.
Practical experience
Students will participate in lab work to develop their analytical and communication skills. Depending on chosen majors, students will attend field trips, seminars and workshops.
Career-ready placement opportunities are available. Examples include volunteering with Oakvale Wildlife Park, the Central Coast Marine Discovery Centre, or working with our researchers on a deep-sea voyage.
