Course overview

The University of Canberra (UC) offers a nationally accredited Bachelor of Communication and Media Sports Media degree.

The UC Sports Media program is the alma mater for many of the top people in areas of Australia’s sports media community. As the destination sport media program of study in Australia, the university fosters its strength in impactful sports communications by utilising a mix of learning opportunity in media theory with future thinking practical application. Such application includes the following platforms: audio (radio, podcasts, vodcasts), television, print/ text (magazines/ newspapers), and digital journalism (web platforms, creating video applications, creating and communicating on social media).

A degree in Sports Media will provide critical thinking skills, multimedia storytelling techniques, and align your creativity with specialised skills to support future career choice.  Coursework in things like narrative development, reporting, editorial, and publicity will have prepared you for employment at the local, region, state/territory, national, and international levels of sport. 

At the Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) we design and offer courses to ensure that our graduates are job ready and are able to reach the full potential of their career with professional knowledge and skills, critical and creative thinking, and excellent communication, collegiality and ethical practice.
