From Triple-A titles such as Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto and Mario Kart, to indie hits like Hollow Knight and mobile favourite Fruit Ninja, the games industry today is worth billions of dollars – and continues to grow and diversify. As gaming technology advances, new opportunities emerge: mobile devices have put games in our pockets, while virtual and augmented reality are expanding the ways we play and create. People of all ages, genders and backgrounds now engage with games not only as players, but as makers – using them to tell stories, communicate ideas and build communities. Far from being just entertainment, games have become a mass medium shaping culture, creativity and careers. The unique Bachelor of Game Design and Development will prepare you for a successful career designing and creating the next wave of popular video games and virtual worlds. You’ll learn from experienced teachers who write, design, program, produce and publish video and tabletop games. You’ll be mentored by industry experts through a work-integrated learning unit that simulates the developer–producer relationship, and have ample opportunities to grow your professional portfolio and develop agile project management skills – then put them into practice. No coding experience is required, as programming is taught from the ground up.
