Course overview
This Bachelor of Education (Physical and Health Education) is tailored to include all the relevant subjects for students who seek a career in physical and health education teaching. Alternatively, graduates may choose careers in the sports, health or movement industries at advanced levels.
This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to:
- demonstrate depth of knowledge in the disciplines of health, movement and science
- develop, implement and evaluate curricula in secondary school settings, with an emphasis on physical and health education
- demonstrate the skills, values and attitudes of a professional educator
- demonstrate effective verbal, written and physical communication skills
- practice behaviours that promote active, healthy living and encourage these in others
- work effectively as a team member and accept leadership responsibility
- apply knowledge and skills to the teaching of physical and health education in contexts other than secondary schools

Standard entry
- Applicants with recent secondary education Assumed Knowledge: 2 units of English Other applicants Refer to the ACPE general admission information English language requirements: All applicants must meet the minimum English language requirements for their chosen course of study. Computer literacy: All applicants for entry to any course must meet minimum computer literacy standards as determined by the college, have a personal email account and unrestricted access to the internet. Working with Children Check: For courses that involve work integrated learning where students may deal with children (ie under 18 years of age) a valid Working with Children Check must be supplied to the college prior to the student undertaking coursework. Applicants who anticipate failing a Working with Children Check should not apply for course entry. Applicants who may not meet the educational requirements but who can demonstrate some educational disadvantage in schooling will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Post-school applicants (21 years or over) who have not completed Year 12 and who have relevant work or life experience that indicates they would be able to manage the level of coursework required will be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis. Direct entry To be considered for direct entry to the Bachelor of Education (Physical and Health Education), applicants who have completed Year 12 must meet one of the following requirements: a minimum of three NSW HSC Band 5 results, including one in English, or completion of bridging units equivalent to a minimum of three Band 5 HSC results, including English (as approved by NESA), or completion of a NESA-approved alternative entry pathway. or have completed a higher degree. Applicants can also be considered for direct entry into the Bachelor of Education if they meet the following ACPE education requirements: completed four (4) HSC subjects, one being Standard English or a Higher English and with a minimum Band 3 for all 4 units. Progression Requirements for applicants admitted via the ACPE education requirements: Students can only progress to the second year of the course if they: pass all eight (8) first year discipline units
