Course overview
This Combined Bachelor of Molecular Sciences and Master of Biotechnology (CBM) is a four-year accelerated degree for those with an ATAR of 90 or above. Over the first three years you’ll complete your selected extended major in Molecular Life Sciences and some units from the Master of Biotechnology. You can then choose to exit after three years with an Advanced Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Sciences, or continue with the Master of Biotechnology and be awarded a Bachelor of Molecular Sciences and a Master of Biotechnology at the end of the four years.
In the Bachelor of Molecular Sciences you’ll learn about life at the molecular level. Starting with the building blocks of life, you work towards understanding the complex function of cells, tissues and organisms. Training in cutting-edge technologies will equip you with the tools to answer the many challenges in the biological and/or health sciences.
The Master of Biotechnology is a signature program that offers a thorough grounding in state-of-the-art biotechnology and combining this with training in enterprise and commercialisation. You have the option to specialise in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Genetics and Genomics, Synthetic Biology, Environmental and Agricultural Biotechnology or AQUAtech, in combination with skills in entrepreneurship and commercialisation.
If you decide not to continue in the CBM you can exit after three years with a Bachelor of Molecular Sciences (Advanced). Note that the Advanced Bachelor Degree is available only as a CBM exit award. It is not offered for direct enrolment and is not awarded on completion of the CBM.
