Course overview

Anthropology is the study of what it means to be human through the lens of cultural diversity. Sociology examines how human actions in modern societies are shaped by social groups and by wider social, economic and political pressures. Both fields share a common interest in comparative studies of human societies. This major allows you to explore contemporary issues and social organisation across a range of topics including family, sport, gender relations, language use, media, education, health, crime, work, globalisation and economic change, community development and human rights. You will also learn practical and conceptual skills for doing ethnographic research.
