Course overview

Psychology is the study of mind and behaviour. In this degree course students examine the behaviour of people as individuals and as groups, how they react to the world around them, how they learn and how they develop. It is a general applied psychology program, emphasising the application of knowledge to problems arising in professional practice. It provides a thorough understanding of the theoretical framework within which various approaches and techniques have been developed. Experimental design relevant to applied research is an important part of the course work. Opportunities for inter-professional learning will take place across the course.

The past two QS World University Rankings by subject see psychology at Curtin in the 151-200 group globally. In the most recent Excellence in Research Australia report, exercise psychology at Curtin was ranked Above World Ranking.

Upon completion you are eligible to apply for associate membership of the Australian Psychological Society. This course enables you to progress into the next stage of the process towards registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Registration as a psychologist requires completion of a two-year provisional psychologist internship, or a one-year professional masters with one year of internship, or a two-year Master of Psychology program following an accredited four-year undergraduate psychology program.
