Bachelor of Science (Advanced Nursing)

The Bachelor of Science (Advanced Nursing) provides a comprehensive program of study involving a diverse range of simulated practice and fieldwork, inter-professional learning, contemporary blended learning, advanced clinical skill development, and opportunity for an international study experience. During the course there is considerable emphasis on developing relevant clinical skills and knowledge to meet the needs of changing healthcare. A large proportion of the course involves simulated learning and practical experience in a variety of hospital and community settings, and includes the care of people of all ages, across healthy to acutely unstable states. Simulated practice supports the development of competency prior to fieldwork placements in a safe learning environment.

e course is designed to meet the RN standards of practice. Graduates are eligible to apply for initial registration as a Division 1 nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Registration is subject to meeting all requirements of the NMBA. To meet the registration requirements of the NMBA, students are expected to complete the comprehensive stream within eight years.

Applicants who have completed, or who are completing, a Diploma of Enrolled Nursing (Division 2 Nursing) and will be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as an Enrolled Nurse need to apply for the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Stream. Applications are submitted directly to Curtin after March 2021 for Semester 2, 2021. This is a 2.5 year streamlined course.
