Bachelor of Science (Health Sciences)

The Bachelor of Science (Health Sciences) is a multidisciplinary degree that gives a solid grounding in public health and provides a preparation for study in other areas of health sciences. Public health professionals work, at the level of the community or population, to create the environmental and social conditions that improve and protect health and well-being. They recognise that the physical environment, access to social and educational services, government policies, laws and the distribution of economic resources, all have important effects upon health. Opportunities for inter-professional learning will take place across the course.

Students who enrol in this course in 2021 will be able to choose a Health Data Specialization in their second year. The specialization will provide the opportunity to acquire skills in the exciting and growing field of digital health and data analytics. Students may combine studies in public health (health promotion, epidemiology, nutrition, occupational health and safety, sexology, environmental and public health), with options chosen from other health sciences courses offered in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University.

Students intending to apply for entry into competitive undergraduate or professional entry postgraduate programs in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, medicine, pharmacy and nursing may choose relevant optional units. Opportunities for inter-professional learning will take place across the course. Students may also use this course to gain prerequisites or marks needed for entry to our competitive courses.
