They may help young children with developmental speech and language difficulties; provide specialist support to school-aged children and adolescents with language, learning and reading difficulties; work on rehabilitation programs for adults with a brain injury; support those with autism, cleft palate or dementia; or optimise vocal skills. The Master of Speech and Language Pathology will prepare you for a rewarding career in a professional or clinical role in private practice, hospitals, disability support or government. While developing expertise in communication and swallowing disorders, you’ll also have the opportunity to undertake advanced studies on topics such as cleft lip and palate, head and neck cancer, transgender voice and trauma-informed practice. Postgraduate and higher courses usually use academic prerequisites, degree equivalence and English-language requirements.
Minimum admission requirements include: AQF Level 7 bachelors qualification or recognised equivalent with a WAM of 65 Recent successful completion of specified prerequisite units in Linguistics and Psychology at AQF Level 7.
If your current English result is below direct entry, consider the university-recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package; successful completion at the required level can usually satisfy English entry without another English test.
